The Panama Canal involved about three treaties because both governments kept changing their minds!
America intended for Nicaragua to be the canal for use because of economic and military purposes. But a geographer working for France named Philipe-Jean Bunau-varilla
convinced Americas government that Nicaragua had dangerous volcanoes.
The Panamanian Government had a treaty that all of Panama belonged to America. After,Panama gained 40% of Panama (not including the Panama Canal). Long after that, Panamanian government gained the entire country!
The working conditions of the people who built the Panama Canal were terrible. Plenty of workers died of mosquito-carried diseases, mudslides, and starvation because of the lack of food, malaria, and suicide.
It took 10 years to build the Panama Canal. It took so long but got more workers from Panama, the West Indies, Europe ,Asia, and especially America.
Panama is an isthmus. That made it easier to build the Panama Canal because it could be so thin.
The Panama Canal works very intrestingly. The doors close on the ship, the canal fills with water,and this lifts the ship and lets it through!
